Sometime after moving to Oklahoma, my niece (she and I are the same age) had a boyfriend that she wanted me to meet, so one night I drove her over to his house. We knocked on the door and the boy’s mother invited us in.

They had a large family, and apparently all were home. The lady of the house invited us to have a seat on the divan, which we did, and soon were enjoying a lively conversation.

When the room finally quieted to gentler tones, we began hearing the strangest whistling that we had ever heard before or since.
"Wooo-weeee -ooooohhh" is the best I can describe the eerie sound.
"Someone is whistling outside your door," I stated, glancing at my niece's new boyfriend.
"Well, open the door, if you don't mind." he replied. I did, and no one was there. The uncanny noise continued..."wooo-weeee-oooohhh." Never had we heard such a haunting sound as this!

Finally, after the family had a good laugh, they told us to put an ear close to their wall clock. We did, and could easily tell that the strange noise emanated from the timepiece.

All I could say was: "If I lived here, I would throw that clock in the trash can, after I smashed it into little pieces!"
