Fairy tales are almost as old as time.
I took
a university course in fairy tales and it was very interesting to find
out that no one knows who wrote most of the ones I’ve heard all my life, such
as the ones collected by the Brothers Grimm. Also there is a Cinderella
story in most every country in the world.
Likewise there is a Sleeping Beauty story, a Little Red Riding Hood, a
Beauty and the Beast, a Rapunzel, a Three Little Pigs, a Goldilocks and so
on, in most countries. Many of these
old stories were adult in nature and some represented famine and disease etc.
I think the Grimm brothers cleaned them up so they would be decent for young
people to read. When I was a child, every night my daddy
read me three chapters in the King James version of The Holy Bible, and
afterwards, a Grimm’s Fairy tale or a Donald Duck comic book. The New Movie
