Old Testament Questions

The purpose of this site is to try and provide Biblical answers for questions that most teachers skip over or think is not important.  These answers are my personal opinions and beliefs through my studies.  My sincere hope is that you will be enlightened by the study of God’s Holy Word.  Though these subjects are not important to our salvation, some people still would like to know the why to a lot of questions.

Well, here’s my idea of why.

BIBLE ANSWERS

Scriptures are in red and my comments are in black

#1. The chicken.  Genesis 1:21 (KJV) And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their

kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

So the Bible says God created the fowl.  It doesn’t say the egg. So the fowl creates the egg.  RETURN

#2. God banished Cain from the Garden of Eden.  Genesis 4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of

Eden. Genesis 4:17  And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his

son, Enoch.  So Cain gets a wife in the land of Nod.  [Nod] Hebrew: nowd (HSN-5112), wandering. Named for Cain's wanderings. Supposed by some to be ancient Tartary (eastern Europe and western Asia), or China.   RETURN

#3. There were evidently lots of other people at the time. Look closely at God and Cain’s conversation: Genesis 4:13  And Cain said unto the Lord, My

punishment is greater than I can bear. Genesis 4:15  And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.

And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.  So God and Cain were talking about a lot of people who could hurt Cain, and God

said he would get sevenfold vengence.  If there were no other people God would have told Cain that there only existed his parents.   RETURN

#4. Yes, in Genesis 1:26-27  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the

fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

[27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.   RETURN

#5. No, I don’t think so. The Bible doesn’t say anything about Adam and Eve until chapter 2.  Genesis 2:7  And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the

ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. God names him Adam. Genesis 2:19  And out of the ground the Lord

God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called

every living creature, that was the name thereof.  Eve comes along here:  Genesis 2:23  And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh:

she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.   Most people say that Cain married his sister and one scripture really sounds that way.

Genesis 3:20  And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.  However, then you come up with two accounts of the creation of

mankind and Cain would have had to marry his sister.  But the Bible says nothing about other children being born yet.  And do you really think that if he had a

sister back then she would have left home and moved to another place???  Not likely at all.  So I could be wrong but this is what I believe.  RETURN

#6. In the Beginning, whenever that was.  Genesis 1:1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. True science and The Holy Bible do not conflict one

another. The earth could be millions of years old.  We don’t have a clue when “the beginning” was.  RETURN

#7. Let’s look closely at what Jesus said: 2 Peter 3:8  But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a

thousand years as one day.  The keyword here is “as”.  It appears twice.  Remember you are reading an English interpretation of The Holy Bible.  In English the

words “as” or “like” are similies.  They are words that mean similar to…He was saying that one day here is “as” or “like” a thousand years with the Lord. In

other words “with the Lord” or we could say “in heaven” time doesn’t exist as we know it.   RETURN

#8. According to the Jewish calendar the year 2007 – 2008 is the year 5,769.  reference: http://judaism.about.com/od/holidays/a/08_cal.htm

So even if you believe that the millennial reign begins at the year 6,000, there is still a ways to go. RETURN

#9. There were civilizations before Adam and Eve. In older versions of The Holy Bible you will see the word “replenish” in Genesis 9:1  And God blessed Noah

and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.  Re meaning to “do over” or re-fill.  Well surprise!!! God told the males and

females in the first chapter of the Bible to do the same thing!!! Genesis 1:28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and

replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Unfortunately modern translators replace the word  in Genesis 1:28 with “plenish” or “fill”.  That way they conveniently get out of dealing with the pre-adamic

         world. RETURN

#10. Yes there is much more proof. We know that Lucifer was already a fallen creature when Adam and Eve got here.  Read why he was

fallen in: Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the

nations!   WHAT NATIONS???  It now becomes very clear that it had to be nations before Adam and Eve. RETURN

#11. Lucifer was ruling on earth at that time.  Isaiah 14:13 we can see that he said he would  “ascend into heaven”, ascend meaning to go up. Isaiah 14:[13-15] For

thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the

sides of the north:  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

#12. Try reading these scriptures for a perfect description of a fire-breathing dragon, then look at the Unicorn references.

Job 41:1-21  Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down? [2] Canst thou put an hook into

his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn? [3] Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee? [4] Will he make a

covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever? [5] Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?

[6] Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants? [7] Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish

spears? [8] Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more. [9] Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of

him? [10] None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me? [11] Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is

under the whole heaven is mine. [12] I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion. [13] Who can discover the face of his garment?

or Who can come to him with his double bridle? [14] Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about. [15] His scales are his pride,

shut up together as with a close seal. [16] One is so near to another, that no air can come between them. [17] They are joined one to another, they stick

together, that they cannot be sundered. [18] By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning. [19] Out of his mouth go

burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out. [20] Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron. [21] His breath kindleth coals, and a flame

        goeth out of his mouth.

UNICORNS found in Job 39:9-10  Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? [10] Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the

furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?  RETURN

#13. A whale is correct. Science tells us correctly that SOME whales do not have a big enough throat to swallow a man whole. See notes after the scripture.

The Holy Bible says in: Jonah 1:17  Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and

three nights. What the scientists miss is the fact that “the Lord had prepared a great fish”.  Since God himself prepared the fish He could have used a perch if

he had wanted to.  So it don’t say whale?  Yes the scriptures are very clear:  Matthew 12:40  For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's

belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Some baleen whales are up to 100 feet long and 40 feet around, weighing 300,000 lbs.  A Mediterranean fish was caught and exhibited in Beirut which had

a head that weighed 6 tons.  A man standing on the lower jaw could  not  reach the upper jaw, the opening being about 8 feet across.  The April 4, 1896

Literary Digest gave a story of a Mediterranean whale that demolished a harpoon boat.  Two men were lost.  One was found alive in the whale's belly a day

and a half after it was killed.  James Bartley lived with no after effects except his skin was tanned by the gastric juices.  A pure fish was caught off the Florida

coast that weighed 30,000 lbs.  It was 45 feet long and 8 feet thick.  It  had a 1500 lb. fish in its stomach besides a large octopus. A man could easily stand up

in its stomach.  It could have swallowed 10 Jonah's! (quoted from Dake’s Bible commentary)  RETURN

#14. The Tower of Babel has it’s own page.

#15. No it wasn’t the apple on the tree, it was the PAIR on the ground!!!  RETURN

#16. No one but God knows for sure.  What I would guess is that Atlantis did exist and it was the (or one of the) nations that Lucifer led in revolt against heaven.

Anytime anyone has ever tried to take over God’s business they are brought to ruin.  RETURN
